Kari Paulson

Kari’s roots are west of the Cascades in the Paci c Northwest. Her background is an unusual blend of hard science and humanities. She studied Geology and English at Carleton College in Minnesota, Forest Hydrology at the University of Washington (M.S.) and Creative Writing at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan (M.F.A.). She is published in science journals and a literary journal (Ikea Baby, Passages North). She has worked with tribes of the Paci c Northwest (Sauk-Suiattle Muckleshoot, and Swinomish) on watershed restoration strategies and with large resource extraction companies on natural resource management issues. She served as an agroforestry volunteer in Senegal while in the Peace Corps. Kari lives and works in the hills outside of Corvallis with her husband and three sons.
